US Supreme Court grants US Border and Immigration Executive Order

The U.S. Supreme Court granted the government’s motions for emergency stays of preliminary injunctions. The preliminary injunctions had prohibited the government from fully enforcing or implementing the entry restrictions of Presidential Proclamation 9645 (P.P.). 

The US Supreme Court has ordered that the restrictions be implemented fully, in accordance with the Presidential Proclamation, around the world from December 8.

There are now restrictions on citizens of the following countries travelling to the USA:

  • Chad - May not enter the USA as immigrants or non-immigrants (on tourist or business visas).
  • Iran - May not enter the USA as immigrants or non-immigrants (on tourist or business visas) however Iranians with valid student and exchange visas may still enter, subject to additional screening.
  • Libya - May not enter the USA as immigrants or non-immigrants (on tourist or business visas).
  • North Korea -  May not enter the USA as immigrants or non-immigrants
  • Somalia - May not enter the USA as immigrants. They may enter as non-immigrants on tourist or business visas subject to additional screening.
  • Syria - May not enter the USA as immigrants or non-immigrants (on tourist or business visas).
  • Venezuela - Certain Venezuelan government officials and their immediate families may not enter the USA as non-immigrants on tourist or business visas
  • Yemen - May not enter the USA as immigrants or non-immigrants (on tourist or business visas).

Iraq and Sudan have been removed from the list, but citizens of these countries may be subject to additional screening.
