FCM Travel achieves Level 1 BBBEE Rating
This milestone has been achieved through a focus on empowerment in all its different facets. We believe in the BEE vision and transformation goals, and we are committed to empowering our staff through broad-based initiatives.
FCM has undergone a radical in-house transformation since 2005. From having only three black people in the company to creating a broad-based black economic empowerment plan and setting up an AICC female trust.
The creation of FCTG’s Employee Share Scheme has changed the culture of the business. Through the scheme, shareholders own 30% of FCM Travel Solutions. Each year, company dividends are shared with people of colour employed in the business and who have worked with the company for a set number of years.
“The scheme speaks to a global company that is taking notice of the country it is trading in. It’s an incredible opportunity to be able to work in this space,” says Team Leader Rategang Moroke
Flight Centre’s Chief Financial Officer, Averen Deonanan, notes that FCM’s exceptional BEE result was realised sooner than planned as the business managed to exceed its targets in a number of scorecard categories. This achievement highlights to our people as well as our suppliers and customers that FCM and the Flight Centre Travel Group as a whole are committed to being socially responsible and a transformation leader within the South African travel industry.
