We understand that without quality education, the cycle of poverty cannot be broken. As such, we are focused on ensuring that every child has access to quality education.

Education liberates the intellect, unlocks the imagination and is fundamental for self-respect. It is the key to prosperity and opens a world of opportunities, making it possible for each of us to contribute to a progressive, healthy society. Learning benefits every human being and should be available to all.

Whether it's through educating our audiences via events or contributing to the quality of or access to education in a location we are working in, FCM Meetings & Events proactively looks for opportunities to enhance learning opportunities for communities globally.

We work and operate in a female-centric industry that does enjoy reasonably good equality. Unfortunately, there are still many inequalities and disparities in areas like remuneration, seniority and leadership. If women and girls aren’t given access to education, this won’t change.

Gender bias is undermining our social fabric and devalues all of us. It is not just a human rights issue; it is a tremendous waste of the world’s human potential. By denying women equal rights, we deny half the population a chance to live life at its fullest. Political, economic and social equality for women will benefit all the world’s citizens.

We are passionate advocates of equal rights for women and girls. From hosting our highly successful International Day of the Girl events, International Women's Day events to supporting our parent company's Womenwise initiative.

Through our partnership with SolarBuddy, we support affordable and clean energy solutions for the 1.2 billion people around the world currently living with no or unreliable sources of energy.

SolarBuddy was Flight Centre Travel Group's and FCM Meetings & Event's first global charity partner for its Brighter Futures program. Since then, we have entered into a very special partnership with SolarBuddy, and made the charity organisation's program a pillar of our sustainability agenda. Together we have a shared vision 'to open up the world for those who want to see (at night) and create brighter futures for children living in energy poverty'.

To date, this partnership has resulted in more than 17,000 lights being gifted across the globe, with the biggest single donation in South Africa with 6,000 lights. This has resulted in the creation of 18,615,000 study hours and improved the education outcomes of thousands of children and their families.

We should replenish what we take out. To offset and reduce the atmospheric carbon that results from our normal business activity has become an area of focus for us. Our climate programs endeavour to present offsetting to a range of project types.

Climate change is a real and undeniable threat to our entire civilization. The effects are already visible and making an impact. Through education, innovation and adherence to our climate commitments, we can make the necessary changes to protect the planet. These changes provide huge opportunities to modernise the way we approach the planning of and execution of meetings and events.

Our commitment to climate action extends from our own workspaces to events where all of our own and our client events now incorporate a sustainability strategy into the event planning.

By partnering and working with our customers and industry partners, we believe we can make a significant impact towards achieving the UN SDGs by 2030. We are actively seeking collaborations and open dialogue with organisations across our network.

International investment and support is needed to ensure innovative technological development, fair trade and market access, especially for developing countries. FCM Meetings & Events recognise this and always strive to collaborate with or partner with local groups or international organisations to support our commitment to the UN SDGs and to strengthen our own efforts to be more sustainable, supportive, empathetic, inventive and passionate in everything that we do.
