What inspired you to pursue a career in the travel industry?
Having a father who worked for Aer Lingus and regularly brought my siblings and I to the airport to watch the planes taking off gave me an interest in travel. Growing up as a family we enjoyed many trips away and I was bitten by the travel bug. A career in the travel industry was appealing.
Do you have any advice for women supporting women at work?
I think it is key for women to support other women at work through sharing experiences, mentorship, balancing work life demands and creating a safe space for open conversations.
Who is a woman that has inspired your journey, and what’s the most important lesson you’ve learned from her?
One woman who deeply inspired me early in my career was a fellow colleague in sales. She faced many challenges but was always resilient and compassionate. She taught me to keep going when times are tough, and this has helped influence me when I experience any setbacks.
What’s been your most rewarding career moment at FCM?
In my first year signing a new client and the encouragement and confidence that gave me.
Who’s a woman (past or present) you’d invite to dinner, and why?
Mary Robinson, first female president of Ireland and UN Commissioner for Human Rights. She would make a great dinner guest having been a strong advocate for human rights, gender equality and the experience she has in leadership, politics, and international relations. I would think she has many interesting stories.
