New BA Executive Club Benefits for business travellers

After listening to feedback from clients, British Airways announced a series of Executive Club benefits for business travellers and frequent flyers. Executive Club members can once again reserve seats without charge on hand baggage-only fares.
Reserve your Free seat on Basic fares
If you travel on Basic Hand Baggage fares and you are a Bronze, Silver or Gold Executive Club Member, you can now reserve your seat for free from the 14th June 2017. The usual seat booking rules apply, so if you are bronze you can only book from 7 days before. If you have already paid to allocate a seat and are due to travel from the 14th June, you may be eligible to receive a refund on the cost of that seat reservation. You do not need to contact BA to arrange a refund, as they will refund it back to the original form of payment. The refunds will be processed in travel date priority order from the 14th of June. It will take up to 28 days for this to appear on your account.
Freeze membership during maternity, paternity or adoption leave
Executive Club Members who may be taking fewer or no flights during their maternity, paternity or adoption leave can apply to put their account on hold for a year, protecting hard-earned Executive Club Bronze, Silver or Gold status. In order to qualify for this, you need to provide a letter from their doctor, a birth certificate or documentation relating to the adoption or paternity leave and email it to baby@ba.com, along with your Executive Club membership name and number.
Furthermore, while it’s more symbolic than anything, they’ll even give you 1,000 Avios when you enroll your new kid in your Executive Club household account.
