Emirates to return to Edinburgh

One of the world’s most renowned airlines will arrive into Edinburgh later this year with the launch of a daily Emirates service to Dubai.

The re-addition of the flights from the Scottish capital will also boost cargo capacity, enabling Emirates SkyCargo to offer up to 20 tonnes of cargo capacity on the aircraft per flight. This provides local businesses opportunities to increase popular exports such as salmon and whisky.

When will Emirates resume flights to Edinburgh?

Emirates' Edinburgh daily service will be reinstated on Monday 4th November 2024 and will be operated by an Emirates Boeing A350-900. Configured with three classes, the aircraft will include 32 lie-flat seats in Business, 21 in Premium Economy and 259 in Economy. The new A350 aircraft has more spacious cabins, high ceilings and customised mood lighting.

Flight EK024 from Edinburgh to Dubai will depart Edinburgh at 20:40 and arrive in Dubai at 08:05 the next morning.

Flight EK023 from Dubai to Edinburgh will depart Dubai daily at 14:50 and arrive in Edinburgh at 19:05.

The flights complement the carrier's daily flight between Glasgow and Dubai. Edinburgh is Emirates' 8th destination in the UK.

After flying from Edinburgh to Dubai, what connections are available?

After arriving in Edinburgh, passengers can then connect to more than 130 destinations including major cities in Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

How it all started

Emirates first launched its Edinburgh flights in 2018 using a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. At the time of the announcement in 2018, senior stakeholders said:

Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport said: "This is a fantastic announcement as we welcome another world-renowned airline to Scotland's busiest airport – a clear statement that Edinburgh Airport is the gateway to Scotland. The route enhances our connectivity to the Middle East and further afield as we access that long-haul network, giving us greater access and choice than ever before. It also back fills the departure of Etihad even before that service ceases. The service caters for leisure and business passengers, providing daily links for international tourism and trade opportunities both inbound and outbound, and will help our growth and international standing as a world class hub."

Emirates said: “We’re increasing our capacity to Scotland to meet growing demand, and by introducing a daily flight to Edinburgh, it will complement our current double daily flights between Dubai and Glasgow. Edinburgh is a very popular leisure and business destination, and the new service will offer our customers from across our global network, particularly from key inbound markets such as Asia and Australia, a direct option to the city via our Dubai hub."
