Our very own Sarah Capon, FCM ANZ Campaign Manager, recently experienced Doha, blending business with leisure during her three-day stay. Here’s what she recommends for making the most of your stopover in this vibrant, culturally rich city:
What stood out to me the most was how clean and safe the city felt. The locals were extremely welcoming, friendly & helpful from the moment I stepped off the aircraft. Don’t hesitate to get out there and experience the city.
Easy to get around – the Doha Metro is quick, affordable and will take you anywhere you need to go in style.
Souq Waqif is an unmissable feast for the senses. You can buy anything here from spices to shawarmas, fabric to falcons and coffee to camel rides! Compared to markets I have visited in other countries this one felt the most relaxed and authentic.
The National Museum of Qatar has incredible architecture (be sure to check out the ceiling in the gift shop inspired by the cave structures of Central Qatar) and is the perfect introduction to the history and culture of Qatar, it even has an award-winning rooftop restaurant!
If you're feeling adventurous, a 4WD safari into the Qatar desert and inland sea should be on your list for fun, culture and incredible scenery.
Mina district is a picture-perfect spot on the site of the old Doha Port, lovey for a stroll around the many boutique shops & restaurants - be sure to visit the Fishmarket and check out the incredible stained-glass roof.
Doha Beach Club is the perfect spot to unwind, relax, eat, and drink on Doha’s pristine beach.
Katara Cultural Village is a treasure-trove of galleries, theatres, restaurants, cafes and cultural events well worth a visit.

The National Museum of Qatar is a must, and so is exploring Doha's incredible architecture. Doha is all about culture, every building tells a story, and everything has meaning behind it. Business travellers should try soak up every moment of it and absolutely try some traditional food! Doha is also super clean, friendly and easy to get around. Everything is close by. Plus, Qatar Airways service is second to none, no matter what class you're flying.

On this trip we stayed at the Park Hyatt Doha, a stunning 5-star property in Msheireb Downtown Doha, a stone's throw from Souq Waqif, the Metro station, and other attractions. The rooms here are plush, spacious, well-appointed to keep work on-track, plus the Nespresso coffee machine was a welcome sight after an overnight flight! Be sure to head up to the rooftop bar & restaurant in the evening for incredible views over the Doha city skyline.
