Inspiring inclusion this International Women’s Day: Zahrah Roush

In celebration of this year’s International Women's Day, we're thrilled to shine a spotlight on the successful women within our FCM team.

Meet Zahrah Roush, Head of Supply for FCM.

As we explore this year’s theme of 'Inspiring Inclusion', we asked Zahrah how she cultivates a culture where every voice is valued and celebrated. Discover her journey, insights, and aspirations for a more inclusive future.

Can you share a personal story or experience where you felt empowered and included at FCM?

“Working closely with my leader, Mel Elf, at FCM has been incredibly empowering and inclusive. Mel consistently ensures that I feel included and valued in various aspects of my work, from SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) discussions to town hall presentations and broader business topics."

“In our SWOT discussions, Mel actively seeks input from all team members, including myself, encouraging us to share our perspectives and insights. She always creates a safe space where diverse opinions are welcomed and also celebrated. This fosters an environment of inclusivity and collaboration.”

In your opinion, what role does mentorship play in fostering inclusion, and have you had any impactful mentorship experiences?

“I think mentorship plays a crucial role in fostering inclusion by providing guidance and support for individuals from diverse backgrounds. It creates opportunities for every voice to be heard and valued, breaking down barriers and promoting equality."

“Personally, I have been fortunate to have had impactful mentorship experiences within FCTG (Flight Centre Travel Group) where I've received invaluable advice, encouragement, and opportunities for growth from mentors who championed diversity and inclusion.”

What steps do you take to ensure that all voices are heard and valued in team meetings and decision-making processes?

“I prioritise active listening, encourage participation from all team members, and ensure diverse perspectives are considered."

“I also promote an open and respectful culture where individuals feel empowered to share their ideas and opinions without fear of judgment or discrimination.”

What message would you like to share on International Women's Day about the importance of inclusivity and celebrating women's achievements in the travel industry?

“By celebrating women's achievements and promoting diversity, we not only create a more equitable and inclusive travel industry but also inspire future generations of women to pursue their passions and excel in their careers."

“I hope we continue to champion inclusivity, celebrate women's achievements, and work towards building a more diverse and equitable travel industry for all.”
